thinkin about a 5.0 swap.

ok so i have a 98 explorer xlt 4wd 4.0 sohc blah blah blah and i wanna put a 5.0 in it from a donor truck. now my question is, would one from a 96 explorer work? i know i gotta swap all the junk in the engine bay, but would i have issues with the fuel system between those years? also, would i have to swap the gem and the transfer case and all that? or just motor, tranny, pcm, wiring, and accessories.. i just wanna know what im up against before i buy this donor truck, cuz its gettin cold here quick. i dont want a project thats gonna leave me outta comission for very long.

I reecomend against it if you can't be down for long. Your 98 has the returnless fuel system so the 96 will need to be modifed along a list of other things.

You will have to swap transfer cases as well which means you would then have AWD. To have a selectable t-case you will have to swap in a 4406 case from a 97-04 F150.
