Okay I've seen these new LED lights out that replace stock bulbs, and fit into areas like the parking light bulb, taillight bulb etc.... but I have a question on this. Since LED's only light up one brightness (like on the new Cadillac SDS, when they have the parking lights on they have to light just down the side, cause the whole brake light would be on otherwise) when the LED turns on, what happens when you turn your parking lights on????

Dead Link Removed

Check these out.... cause I was wondering what happens with the parking lights. Do they dim? Casue I didn't think LED's dim......

We have had this discussion several times and the LED's Suck. I have three pairs in my box of bulbs that I took out and just went back to regular bulbs.

LEDs are the future of lighting.. you can see that most new luxury cars use them. you also see mail trucks and rigs beginning to.. boat trailers etc. its no doubt that these things are on the up and up.

HOWEVER

many of the OEM replacement 3157 bulbs that fit into your stockj lense with no midification are either simply not bright enough, too small, or some combination of the 2.

I run jamstrait 3157 superbright red LEDS in my clear lenses and have for a few years, i get a lot of complaints from people and a few "hey buddy wheres your taillights?" at night.. they're great, during the day however.. picture a red dot the size of a quarter in the center of a brake lense.

If you want to go LED, I'd say its definatley a good thing, but you need to take the higher quality (and more expensive) route. www.ledtronics.com makes proffesional lighting products for things such as LED street lights, LED red lights and LED flashlights.. they sell a 3157 bolt in , but these units cost $100 a pair. I have considered them, but dont have the money to invest in such a thing yet.

Another option would be to go with a company like www.radiantz.com it does not list it on teir site, but if you send them a lense, they can pack it with LEDS and get it back to you, our lenses, since they are so large, may run as high as $500 to be done. Whats more, they would have to wallow out the inside of the lense due to the nature of our lights design.

LEDs last longer (10 years or so), do not fade, are more heat efficient, energy efficient, water proof, and proven to be brighter and more exact in color than incadescents of the same type. One must simply spend the money to get there.

Hope that helps. basically, if you really want LEDS to put an end to the 6 month red incadescent swapping that all of the clear taillight owners have to do, go with the ledtronics, or learn to love OEM :(

Wow....... thanks man! I guess I'm staying with OEM then... lol

The situation with LEDs is:

You get what you pay for. These LEDs that go for $20 on eBay just do not cut it. If you truely want LEDs, the quality ones are going to run you about $80 a piece. When you start talking about that kind of money, you begin to ask yourself, "What's the advantage of LEDs over OEM?"

I got a catalog from www.ledtronics.com and they got high quality LED's in their shop. Run about $50 a pop. But good quality, and I think that LED's are mor brighter than regular bulbs, cause in my area all the traffic lights and street lights have been changed to LED's and boy, at night time, those things really hit your eyes.

it would be WONDERFUL if someone else would take the chance and splurge for the 3157 LEDs that ledtronics makes and get back to me with the results ;)

sorry lol, but if you want me to do it, you may have to wait alittle longer, its kind of low on my financial priority list ATM.
