New to the site and thought I would make a post and get some of yalls opinions. I have been messing around with my 01 explorer sport a little last few months. Simple stuff made a roof rack painted all the grey trim black. Also put a set of mazda wheels with 31x10.50 tires on it. The wheels look ok but I want to do something a little different with them. So I am thinking paint them. Cant decide what color though. First thought black but everybody does black so I am half way considering like a real dark od green with black center caps or maybe a desert tan or something Idk any suggestions would be great. Sure wish I had photoshop I would just play around with colors on them. Here is some pictures of my exploder.

Well, coming from a person whose painted their rims black, my vote is black. I understand your feeling about wanting to do something different, but to me, anything but black would look pretty awkward on rims. Of course this is just MY opinion, but anything but silver/white/black on rims just looks... dumb. Desert tan is kinda interesting though, but with your white/black combo... meh.

I think black would look pretty sweet with your truck, but it is YOUR truck so have fun with whatever you do. I do like those Mazda rims alot though.

^^ x2 ^^

To be different with those mazda wheels and your truck I'd get them powder coated white and leave the inserts silver graphite. talk with turdle to see how much it would be? He does awesome work.

Thanks for the tips guys really appreciate the fast responses. I would say I will end up going on and painting them black. May play around with using a different color on the inserts and the center caps (when i get some that is). I plan on painting the whole vehicle something besides white if I keep it after first of the year.

I'd say do either black or white. You can make the vehicle look real nice with a just black and white color scheme.

I'd also suggest painting the grille inserts.

I'm curious how it'd look with white rims and that bull bar white also, and the grille inserts and tail lights black. *wishing for a photoshop pro to see this thread* :)

I'm with MidnightRebel07. That would look real good.

Should throw on some clear corners too. White wheels would look good too. They'd be kind of like white wagon wheels.

Do you want your wheels to stand out or do you want them to disappear? If you want them to stand out- leave them or go with a light color. If you want them to disappear, then go black or some dark color (like graphite or whatever).

Personally, my vote is to leave them alone.

i personally don't like the black, the wheels being the same color as the tires doesn't look right the wheels need to brake up the tires not just be one big black circle. (if that makes sence). if i were you i would paint them a silver or like a grey. and paint the center caps to match.

One day I decided I was gonna paint some rims white... turned out great, I loved them. wouldnt recommend it for a black explorer
