My 8 Month old Golden Retreiver just ruined my mom's 2002 Explorer. He was in the rear of the car and he chewed on the leather seats. He totally destroyed the right top corner of the middle seat. It's unbelieveable, he tore out the stuffing and ate some of the plastic backing.

Anyone know weather or not just the middle seat can be replaced, how much it would run, or if I need to get both rear seats, what do they cost.

Thank god my family owns a Ford Dealership, probably get a break on price...

Well sorry for your misfortune, but it's not going to be cheap for a new seat. My question is, why would you let a puppy roam around in a brand new car (with leather) unattended?

We have two dogs. A 5 yr old Lab/German Shepard and this new puppy. We've had him for about 2 months and commonly left him in the back of the car. We have a gate in there to keep him from getting to the front, Never had a problem before. I went to get him outta the car and almost cried when I saw that....

With any luck we can just get it for free, my mom's VP of the copany, Uncle owns it...

Yea, the seat isn't going to be cheap. Being an '02, it really isn't a junkyard or eBay type of item. I would look into getting the seat recovered by an upolstery shop. EDIT: WHOOPS, sorry, I forgot you had a dealership in the family.

For future reference, you may want to fold the rear seats down when you have the dog in there. I travel with mine all the time (she won't sit up front), fold the rear seats down and have no worries.

ALSO!!! When traveling with a dog in an Explorer and you open the windows for them, TURN ON THE WINDOW LOCK!!!! My dog once had her head out the window and she stepped on the Window Up switch, I hear a strange noise, and look and she is choking herself in the window. REAL SCARY!

wat do u do when u have a sprot that has no window lock? o wait, my rear windows don't go down ;) Haven't had my dog in my X yet though, but of course its below freezing and there is slush and stuff on the ground and i don't want him to Ruin my interior but staining it:(

here's a thought

Since your family owns a Ford dealership just take one off another explorer and maybe your family could write it off as being theft from vehicle or some form of burglary.:)

My dog tried to commit suicide

In my Explorer. Had the window rolled down enough she could get his head through. She saw some ducks as we wwere driving through the park. With her head through the window, she put her paw on the electric window switch. Ever notice the UP side is higher? Cought it just in time. She was very quiet the rest of the trip! If you have dogs, remember to put the window lock on.

My dog also did this once. Now all I have to do to get her away from the window is to hit the window button for a second and she gets away from the window ;)

I also don't have window locks, but she only had to experience it one time to learn to stay away.

hehe, i think this has happened to everyone. dang, i thought my dog was uniquely clueless of what was goign on, but apparently not :p

Leather heh? Thats odd. My golden retreiver is more into carpentry. He has shaped the edges of several cabinets in our kitchen and did a fine job on a chair leg. Give him a chainsaw and he could probably make a statue.

Does anybody elses dog just lay in the back seat bored to death while riding in a car? Mine just lays down and hangs his head off the back seat. That or he sits down on the seat facing forward and rests his chin on top of my head. That always gets some strange looks from other drivers.

NOPE! Mine is a ball of energy while in the truck. I keep all my work equipment in my X including a 6' ladder and a whole bunch of stuff. I usually clear off the passenger seat and rear "dummy" seat for her, but she won't sit in them. She would rather try to walk all over the equipment and fall all over the place when I accelerate or brake. I guess that makes it more fun for her.:D

Our dog sometimes "surfs" the armrest so she can be closer to me and my GF. When she does this, she usually leans against my shoulder to help balance and often puts her head on my shoulder as well.

Our dog has learned to relax during longer trips

My pooch loves to ride shotgun. She and I run our errands on Saturdays, we get the car washed (they love her there), go to the bank (they love her there), stop off at the store (she has to watch out the window there) and stop off at the liquor store (she's has very good taste in wine).

OK -- Maybe I'm misunderstanding what is going on here. You need to replace a seat in the Explorer, and your family owns a ford dealership, yet you are asking the forum about what parts are availble and what they cost?

Very confused.
