I just installed it but was now wondering if I should have removed the stock o-ring that fits between the stock TB and black composite manifold? I used the supplied BBK gasket but did not remove the stock o-ring.

The Explorer BBK kit consists of the TB itself, a cardboard gasket, and a black plastic TPS spacer. So by "o-ring" if you mean the TPS spacer, I have found that it doesn't make any difference if it's in there or not. I've run it with and without and there's no difference I could tell.

Maybe the Ranger BBK TB kit is different. Explorers don't have black composite manifolds. The TPS housing is black and plastic, maybe that's what you mean.

The rubber o-ring style gasket is recessed in the black composite opening in between the TB and manifold.
Oh well, I ended up taking it out and checking for leaks with a unlit propane torch and no leaks, so it seems ok either way. Tnx

you must mean intake tube

heh. Wait a minute. I think you mean, the rubber o-ring between the TB and the <air intake tube>. On the front side of the TB. My experience with that o-ring is that you basically don't want vac leaks. So if you can run without the o-ring and have no leaks, then great. Some people's intake tubes are so tight with the BBK that they don't need or can't use the o-ring. Other trucks need the o-ring or they get leaks. In my case I was able to keep the o-ring (it took a little stretching). Seems to be a case of manufacturing tolerances...

I just installed my throttle body bout 2 month ago. And I left the rubber o-ring and as well used the gasket supplied with the kit and ever thing seem to work fine with no problems. To check for any leak get some starter fluid and start your x and spray a little around the gasket and if you experience any engine speed changes then you have leak. And if not then your ready to go.

Just my 2 cent
