is there an easy way to change the three spark plugs on the drivers' side short of taking the tire off and removing the inner fender well?

You just remove the flexible cover. It’s really not that bad. You CAN change them from the top, but it’s much easier through the wheel well.

I have changed them from above and below without removing the plastic, below is easier, and it is probably not worth the time to remove the plastic.

that is what i figured. the truck is at my friends' house and i work on it while his wife is now watching.

i am going to try that probably this afternoon. i will jack the truck up as well. i did this about five years ago but the details are sketchy in my brain. i've had two heart attack since then and it kinda scrambled my brain a bit.

I’m sure it’ll come right back. It’s pretty straight forward.

Flex head ratchet and a variety of extensions help a lot. I always do them from above. The driver's side is the easy side! No HVAC duct to work around!

The only plug I have ever had trouble with is the passenger side rear. Driver side is doable from under the hood.
