ive been poking around the site and reading about some throttle body stuff. it looks like a lot of people (with stock engines) are running the BBK 66m TB. i was thinking of doing this, but one thing occured to me...what the heck is this gonna do for me? hp gains?...throttle response gains?...mpg gains?...nothing at all, just one more cool thing to put in my signature? if anyone knows, id appreciate it. and if anyone knows roughly where i can get one and about how much itll cost, thatd be great too.

thanks

(one more thing, it seems whenever the TB is mentioned, talk of a new mass air flow sensor comes up. please feel free to elaborate on this as well.)

ok, its just been brought to my attention, that no one really makes a TB for the SOHC (and if someone does, it might not make that much of a difference.) so if youd like to reply to this post and make fun of me and call me names, feel free.

I've got the large MAS and bbk TB..Also the chip(jet) the real world difference is fuel economy and top end performance..Have not upgraded to a cat-back system yet, that should help alittle more..If I had it do do over, I probally would have spent the money on gears or bush gaurd or something else..Not to impressive as of yet..

I have done the works on my 95 Explorer and I would like to say that both the throttle body and the mass air flow sensors should be dead last on your list of things to buy.

The only thing on the front end I would even consider is either a high performance filter or a cold air setup.

Until you have headers, bigger cam, ported and polished heads, and a catback exhaust the current intake is rated to support these items. In fact, I am willing to guess that you will be fine without a larger throttle body and maf no matter what.

I actually removed my Granatelli Mass Air Flow Sensor and am using the stock one on my rebuilt V6. It was sending way too many codes and causing a lean condition. Either I have to custom burn a chip to accept it better or it needs recalibration somehow...
