Hello all,
I will be cleaning my MAF and throttle body this weekend and I am wondering If I should remove the throttle body in order to give it a proper cleaning. Also would like to know if it would be ok to use carbeurator cleaner or should I splurge and buy some throttle body cleaner ???
The truck is a 98 sport ohv

Well, if you want to be thorough, you might as well remove it. You'd be surprised how much gunk can build up from the air intake all the way to the intake valves, throughout the intake manifold.

Carburetor cleaner, throttle body cleaner, it's all the same stuff. Just don't spray on any MAF or O2 sensors, or anything plastic. You might even consider soaking it in diesel if it's really bad.

I guess ill take it off thanks

one last question is the throttle body gasket a dealer only part ?

No, Fel-Pro and Victor Reinz TB gaskets are readily available.

I find the T/B gasket to be reusable as long as you don't damage it. If I had a new one laying around I'd probably use it.
