I have a 04xlt with 49k, have noticed recently that truck seems to have 2-3 second lag when accelerating. I have had a dealer and local dealer advised that pcm was reflashed last year with latest version of updates. I have noticed that if you merge into traffic it downshifts immy and then downshifts a second time. while this is going on there may be a few seconds in between. I do not remeber this doing this until recently. Dealer also claims to have replaced tps switch as well. To me this truck is dangerous to drive like this. Is there a fix for this? I know in my 04 f150 4.6 it had similar qualities, I pulled the inner hose out of the intake and that took care of that problems, no the f150 throttle is just like having a cable. The explorer has the 4.0 v6. Also I have driven 5 different explorers with same set up as mine and only 1 of the 5 acted like mine. Also I have had rear diff assembly replaced 3 times due to whinning and also once the dealer has replaced ring and pinion. I want to get rid of truck but wife wants to keep, truck has had way to many visits to dealer to have repairs on. Are there any thoughts on the trhottle situation?

No, but with the problems you've had I'd trade it in short order. Remember, it is easier to ask forgiveness than permission. ;)
