Man I have heard damn good things about Doug at Bamachips. I have seriously thought about this and have contacted Doug about what it would do for my X. I just couldn't pull the trigger and get the damn thing. If the SCT works at eliminating the damn hesitation, let us know. Sorry that you had to be the guinea pig!

Bringing the Post back from the dead !

im getting the tuner custom done this week, finally got 4 bills together for the purchase.

Ill have a complete write up in a few weeks. !

This is definitely a common issue amoung Drive By Wire cars and trucks.

I've had to fix this issue for almost every customers car I've tuned. You Explorer guys are not alone. The mustangs deal with it too. Mushy pedal, slow response, you name it.

Let me know how everything goes.

I Was just gonna post a thread about this. It's really annoying that i have to press down and release in order to accelerate. It's extremely annoying when im driving and then i hit an incline and i have no immediate accel

ok guys, i went with a Xcal1 box, my guy that tuned my Escape hooked me up with a deal of 250$ for the box and 3 tunes. well after a bunch of attempts.... i just could NOT get the goddam throttle issue resolved. possible that my Xcal 1 device was not able to do it. although all programs loaded fine, and i even modified the shift points and they worked. just the throttle issue was unfixable. needless to say, the xcal went back. and its back to stock now. i just drive it like an old lady, and it feels fine ;)

my question is:

"what was wrong with the cable?"

my question is:

"what was wrong with the cable?"

it worked, that's the problem. The 3rd gens were a lesson in "if it works, swap it out with something of inferior quality". Hence the 5r55w, Throttle by wire, etc.

Question for the guys experience this lag or delay.

Does it only happen at a certain RPM? or at certain speeds?

Say above 3k, or between X and Y?

Pretty much at any RPM...In my experience, it is lessened when you are at a higher RPM, but there is still a lag.

ill stick with my direct link from foot to throttle, cables are wonderful

I’m not saying I like it or I’m saying it’s a good thing but the advantages to fly-by-wire:
The ability of the PCM to back off the throttle when needed:

Shift points - it allows the PCM to back off on the throttle to allow the transmission to shift with no power thus increasing (or so the original thought was) it longevity.

FMEM Mode -Failure Mode Effects Management is an alternate system strategy in the PCM designed to maintain engine operation if one or more sensor inputs fail. In the V8 if there is a sudden loss of coolant it will activate, and rather burning the motor up it will alternately shut down cylinders to cool the motor. I thought that was the reason the Trans got it own cooler.

Now when i first got my truck i did have a short delay, and a new MAP/Flash for the PCM is it drives like normal.

Ok so I have always noticed this problem but would just say that's the way its should be. In till I saw all of the posts about this problem. Then it bothered me again so I went to the dealership and had them do the TSB for this issue. It did help a lot it shifts a lot quicker under normal driving on the highway when you step on the pedal to go into passing gear it happens a lot quicker. Not perfect but definitely a lot better. Well worth the 70 bucks it cost to have them flash the computer.

Can you or have you done the throttle cable mod(fix) to your truck?

Can you or have you done the throttle cable mod(fix) to your truck?

there is no cable to mod, its throttle by wire ?

Dee Dee Dee...... "Carlos Mencia"

I wouldn't know a drive by wire system is smacked me in the face! :banghead:

Sorry all my vehicles are "Oldschool" 1994 or older.

On this subject I will now keep my 2 cents to myself. :(
