I need to replace my tie rod boot, and can't figure out how to reach the retainer that holds it on the rack. On my 2000, the clip retainer is hidden behind a front crossmember, and it's difficult to get pliers in there. Has anyone had success in changing the boot without removing the rack?
Thanks for any ideas.
Don

you need a long flat head screw drive and break it off

Thanks Ian. I just took a look, and that'll work. I can reach it with a long screwdriver from the inside.

Next question; :) how do I tighten the clip on the new boot? Or maybe a plastic lock-tie would go on easier?

Thanks again.

A plastic zip tie will work. Its not the best, but it will work just fine.
