Tilt Mirror Question

I had the auto-tilt feature on my 2007 Saturn Outlook XR and could choose either mirror or both. The concept seemed sound until I needed to see higher than what the tilted mirror offered. This became an annoyance and I turned it off.
If you have the rear camera, the sight lines give you a good indication of where your vehicle will be/end up when reversing.

That is what I was wondering about as well. The loss of the overall picture. I have installed those small convex mirrors on every car I've had since I began driving in 1962. They are usually the first thing I put on a vehicle and I'd never go without them, even with the blind spot monitoring system.

Everybody's habits are different, I fold mirrors all the time when I park car in garage. Tilt down put an extra load on mirror's motor as well. That is probably why Ford doesn't do it, mirror's motor sucks and could be broken easily...

The auto fold has been mentioned a few time but some like myself wouldn't want it since it would put a lot of work on the mirror motor. I would go for it if they included an option to turn that OFF. In the 3 years I had my Limited, I think I only folded the mirrors perhaps 4 times. Peter

My thoughts on folding mirrors is completely opposite. I fold them regularly and rather use the function and have them break when still on warranty, than in a couple of years when they're not covered anymore ;)

And I use the folding mirrors every single day in my work parking garage, so for *me* it sure would be nice!

HI,

someone had activated (or find out if its possible) a "mirror down future"?
Using the Forum's handy 'Search' feature I found this thread and merged yours with it. This is not a feature the Explorer has and is not shown in your Manual. I haven't had it nor is it a feature I would personally want. See my previous posts in this thread. However others may find it useful.
