I have a 2002 explorer and everyone just seems to complain about how damn straight the back seats sit. I sat there for a couple minutes earlier myself to see and damn they are like a 90degree (well feels like it haha)

But I was wondering the difficulty and how to tilt the seats back just a couple inches or so back?

Tilting rear seats is an option in some Explorers. Your best bet will probably be wait until you find an '02 that has been wrecked that has the seats you need.

I know Ford made reclining rear seats in '95 and '96. It comes standard when you have leather seats. But I think Ford got rid of the reclining rear seats in '97 or '98 because I was looking at a '97 Eddie Bauer with leather seats and it didn't have a recliner. My aunt's '99 Limited's rear seats aren't reclining. I test drove a '02 Limited and the rear seats don't recline either. But I don't know...good luck finding them Timmy.

I have a 97 that's just about loaded... leather and all...

No reclining, but wish it did.

Mine has cloth seats. The rear seats recline. There's also a built in child seat, maybe it came with that option.

I'll trade ya ! ! ! lol

Thanks for the help but i'm not spending money on them when I'll never sit in them myself :p lol

I heard that there was a screw that you could take out and move the top part to tilt it? Wanna make sure this is true before I go messing up things

Oh...that's why you have reclining rear seats. When you order the child seats, recliners are standard.

Bucket Seats

Why not just find some matching front seats from a wrecked X and put them in the back? I've done this conversion in my X and it wasn't too bad....i dunno how hard it would be in a newer one.

Not exactly the same subject, but I have a 98 sport, and the bottom half of the rear seats doesn't lock down. If you lean forward, the seat does too. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

my 98 has a simaler problem. i don't have the truck to look at, but from what i remember, it does this because there was too much play in the hinge or locking mechinism. mine would stop after it hit a certain angle that wan't too bad so i never looked into fixing it. what i'm now wondering is how well you are anchored into the car in case of an accident?
