Time all the time?

My 2003 XLS is nearing the end of it warranty and I’d like to get this issues fixed; but the dealership seems confused!

On power up (radio turned on – either w/starting or on/off switch) the display show the station not the time.

Its works fine once the “clock” button is pushed; that is until you shut down and restart.

AM/FM radio with single CD & cassette.

It’s a real PITA!

So, you're saying it NEVER switches to time after you power it up? I don't know if it is the same as my '97, but to get the time to display you PRESS AND HOLD the CLK button for ... a while. It doesn't do anything on mine to indicate that the "switch" was done, but then the time shows, unless I change the station, or adjust the volume. Then it shows the station, and a few seconds later switches back to time. Sounds to me like it is just a setting problem. That doesn't really sound like a "hardware fault" type issue.

It works perfectly on the radio in my 92 XTL; though not in my 03!

Every time the radio is powered up it displays the station not the time; after a couple of minutes, or an hour.

It does work properly if while driving you think of it and find & push the clock button – not easily found at highway speed.

I now have a properly functioning clock !

Out of the dash, two days at the radio shop, then back in.

The info in the FTE forum ( http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=177889&page=1&pp=15 ) allowed me to dispel the "that's the way its supposed to work" attitude from the dealership.

I did find though a busted tab on the floor mat; looks more like the radio's plastic rather than the trim piece.

Any need to raise it as an issue with them?
