Drops into reverse nicely but when i shift into drive the tranny hesitates. If i accelerate it will eventually drop in. I guess my question is: is this a tell-tale sign of a tranny replacement or is there something else i can do to get another couple of weeks out of it till i can afford the $1200 replacement?

Also if anybody knows of a place in south Florida where i can get a rebuilt tranny cheap please let me know.

check the fluid!!!!!

if you have a transmission fluid leak that could be the cause of the problem...

and if you catch it before its too low you can avoid severe damage...

how many miles are on this transmission?

and for a mechanic you can look at the cartalk mechanX files http://www.cartalk.com/content/mechx/

this same thing happened to me. It turns out that the lower pan for the tranny fluid had a bad seal and was leaking fluid. FIxed that now the tranny runs flawlessly.

fluid leaks are as a fact the number one cause of transmision problems so i hear ,
and i have a question as well sorry to take you thread but if transmision fluid is brownish red its just means its time to change or is that somthing worse the transmision workes flawless expet on coold mornings it take longer to shift into reverse or drive

But cheak the fluid thats what casued my grandam to do that type of stuff its fluid was to high
