My Ex is bone stock, other then the K&N filter. I drive it pretty easy, rarely over 3000 rpms. My last tank of gas, I drove 160 on the highway at 65 mph...and yet I could still only get 240 out of a full tank. When I refilled it, it held 19.5 so I know I drained it. I would think I should be able to get at least 300 out of a mixed driving tank like that, even though it was very cold and I've got the damn Auto 4WD. So is it time that I get the codes scanned? Does AutoZone still do that free?? Thanks

Do you have a CEL?

13 mpg avg isn't absurdly bad with auto 4x4 and really cold weather, though it isn't great. Did the temp gauge register a warmed engine? If not, your thermostat could be sticking causing too much engine cooling.

must plead ignorance...what's a CEL? thanks alec

check engine light

ah..no check engine light, all the gauges read normal, everything sounds and feels like the day i bought it.

first i would try gas from a different station if that does not help try cleaning your mas airflow sensor and then resetting the computer by disconecting the battery for 10min

Thanks Billy, I'll try that as soon as I get a warm day out here.

What about the fuel filter, O2 sensors, spark plugs, could it be anything like that?? And would it be worthwhile to get the code scan at AutoZone?? Thanks all...

It is possible that the O2 sensors are weak or starting to fail. You need to scan ( not just read codes ) their function to see if thats it.

Might be time to invest in an OBD II scanner.....

i was suggesting the free things first however if you have not replaced the plugs/wires, 02sensors, fuelfilter, airfilter lately than they will all help
