Timing chain TSB, what year was it corrected?

What year did they fix the problems with the timing chains in the 4.0 SOHC engine? Im trying to find a used motor for my 97, and I would like to avoid this whole timing chain crap again. I can use a motor up to 2001, wasnt sure if the 00/01's had the timing chain cassette problems... Anyone know? Thanks

well, it says that the 2000 engine has all the same problems... That sucks. I guess im just going to have engine noise...

What was the problem with your timing chain? Was it noisy, or was it the original cause of your engine problems?

im not sure if the timing chain was the cause of my engine dying. I bought it not running. I have done alot of reading about the cam problems and it sounds like i have about a 95% chance of having timing chain noise on about any motor I buy if it has 75-100k miles.

You could replace the timing chain before you install the motor to be on the safe side.

OK, I found out about the 00m12 recall. One thing that came to mind is can I de-contaminate the MAS myself?
