Hey guys,

I'm new to these forums and have a question regarding my '01 Explorer 5.0: I have developed a rather severe oil leak originating from the oil pan as of recently. As a result, I'm trying to conduct as much research on the repair job as necessary in order to properly arm myself when it comes time to wage war on this BP-like leak ;)

Would you distinguished folks be able to share any insight into the oil pan replacement procedure? Any special tools required for the job?

I've already consulted a diagram for the oil pan ('01 Explorer Oil Pan diagram) and it appears as though there are at least three screws holding the oil pan to the underside of the vehicle. I'm sure there are other things that must be removed so I would really appreciate it if you guys could help me out here!

Thanks,

Major Smith :us:

They absolutely suck, I cry when we have one to do. You have to remove the motor or take just about everything including front diff to even try to get it.
