I've seen it done, really depends on the width of the tire. I would probably upgrade to a 15x8 wheel at that point. Cragar makes quite a few at a good price, they'll be steel though. Much tougher, but also heavier than stock. I don't know if the 06 wheels are wider than the 2nd gens, I know ours are 15x7, largest most would recommend on those is 10.5" wide. But I know a guy here in IA on the boards did run 32s on his stock wheels, but I think his might have been 16s, not sure on the width of those or if he got a narrower tire.

Your fine. I have 265 bfg all terrains on my 2006 explorer with no lift.

yeah it comes stock with 17's im just limited on cash so id rather not buy wheels just yet and if i could get away a bigger tire without getting wheels id like to do that but thanks for the info.

oh so thats good to hear i can fit them but do you think a lift is still a good idea with those tires?(will it look good)

If you want 32" diameter tires look for 265/70/17 they will fit with NO lift.
They work out to around 32tall x 10wide.

You could probably fit a 33" tire with the 2" lift. Not sure what size that works out to in 17's

P265/65R18 Without a lift. No rubs no problems. They fill the wheel well nicely.

I currently have 255/70/17 (31"). With no lift.

Soon I am going to have a 2.5" RoadbullyOffroad.com lift and 20" KMC XD hoss wheels with 275/55/20 (32") probably first of June after everything comes in and I install it all. I am going with the 32" size because I got two of them for free.

Others here have said 32's will fit with minor rubbing.

mountain man or wise guy you have any pictures of your rides with these tires on them? I'm in the market and can't believe 265/65/18's will fit with out rubbing on the inside of the front tires.
