tomorrow night i going down to NYC (purchase) after work (12am +300 miles = interesting trip). im taking my swampers off and putting my matchbox tires back on since id like not to spend $90 on gas :) im gonna bring the swampers down with me and put them back on down there so i can hit up some trails, btw, if anyone is around this area, ill be there all weekend, and want to do some wheelin!! im gonna put 3 of them in my back, but need room for clothes, dog, etc, so i was thinking of throwing the other one up on top on the roof rack. can i do this? if so, whats the best way to tie it down, etc. and if you guys see an X completely covered in mud driving through the city, or on I-90 tomorrow nite...give me a huge jeeper wave.. haha

Check the weight of the tire and the rack. I think they hold 100lbs on the cross members, but the roof depends on it's strenght. I have a bike rack and a bag that go on my rack. I've had prolly more than 100 lbs on it.

As far as strapping. I would get regular tie-down straps and/or a bungee netting. Most auto stores have them.
You'll hear it if it's not up there tight

good quality ratchet strap.... i walked on my roof at thaven and didnt have a problem... so the wieght of the tire shouldnt be too bad... at thaven, i weighed in about 260 #

Hey man be careful for your back !!!!!! Get a buddy to help.

I don't have that problem;) We went to a swap meet, and managed to load up 10 tires, plus the 4 on the truck, I was a 14 wheeler:D
