98 Sport 2wd
Hello to all,I am a new member and would like suggestions on new tires.I have a 98 sport 2wd and don't do much serious off roading, what I'm looking for is just more traction when launching my jetskis. The places I frequent are mostly sand/gravel and I always end up getting stuck and have to unhitch and have a friend get my trailer out...getting old having to ask for help.I was thinking of going to 4wheelparts and getting the tire/rim package of the 15x8 black rockcrawlers with the 31x11.5x15 LTB...seems like from reading through past threads those should fit,not real concerned with noise or longevity as I have only driven around 25,000 miles in 4yrs any and all comments would be appreciated!!! Awesome forums!!! :chug:

If you drive only on rare occasions, the LTB's wouldn't be bad although they aren't radials which you have to be careful with. I know what package deal you're talking about and have thought about buying it. It is a great price I think and if only they were larger tires I would. You will definately have plenty of traction with those tires, and maybe those are a little overkill for what you actually need. I'm not trying to warn you from them but you may want to look more along the line of A/T's or M/T's if all you are doing is pulling out your jetskis from the lake.

rino, thanks for the reply and yes I too think the LTB may be a little overkill but for the price it seems like what the hell get some wider rims and tires that would do a splendid job and have still have cash for something else without breaking the piggy!!

Yeah- a good way to look at it
Good luck with them !!

Well I'm leaning toward the set-up mentioned above, what or how do I need to be careful with the LTB being that they are bias/not radials...I need more input!! I'm sure I could get could get close to that deal with other tires!!

Flat spots, quicker wear, not as stable at high speeds/high heat, etc.

sincity, LTB is STRICTLY offroad tire, the closest thing super swamper has to the boggers. Unbelievable offroad tire, tough as hell too, but you will sway more, have flat spots, wear super fast, very loud road noise, massive vibrations, and drinks that have lost carbonation before u get to drink them.

Another and probably the biggest problem is that they will not fit at all with no lift. See, super swampers run bigger than any other line, most of their 31's are like 31.4's and stuff. BFG is the only line that comes close to them and theirs are big too. A stock explorer can't run these tires, even if the height fit, the width is way too big and those huge side lugs would rip your wheel wells to hell.

The 4 wheel parts deal is a great buy as a switch-off set with those other wheels but being that they are a lot of trouble and wouldn't fit, I STRONGLY suggest you look at a tamer mud tire or even an all terrain.

Well what you may need are some AT's some MT's I hear are prity good I think im going to get some MT's my friend is a manager at a tier chane an he is a guy I think nos tiyers he tells me that MT's last a whiel and grip prity good. He uses his truck as a dayly as well as 4x4 and he uses MT's. I hope this helps you some :D

Mt's will wear much more quickly than AT's. They will be louder, and not as smooth also. You make want to consider a more aggresive AT or an "inbetween" that has the good qualities of an AT like smooth, quiet, long wearing tread, that is a little more opened to clean itself out.

Hey guys thanks for the info/suggestions...I am now thinking of the Truxs m/t or pro comp m/t or x terrain and will probably get the 3 inch lift from 4wp unless they kill me on the install then I'll get warrior shackles and do torsion twist,I gonna swing by and talk to 4wp in a day or two...thanks for the info!!!

Mt's don't last as long because they have less rubber with all the voids in the tread. They also tend to heat up more. The rubber compond is also a lot softer, which is one of the reasons they have so much traction. If an MT runs as long as an AT then it probably isn't a very good mud tire. What Mt's are you talking about? I'm sure they make a few hard compound ones for the street queens.

LOL :D like I said will see, im unimployed right now so I cant even buy tiyers yet :( I may buy MT's or AT's im kinda unshurr right now myself. I can't even remember the brand of tiyers they were my friend would no hes the one that recomended them to me sorry :D But yeah I do agree with you thought. Thats what I told my friend but he seem to think diferint cuss he sells them I guss :D In other word he could be just triying to make a sell off me as well :fire:

My M/T's are lasting alot longer then my A/t's. I think alot of it has to do with driving habits. AUTOTECH SON :) let me know if you are intrested in some 33's!

So far, my procomps have held up very well to wear
