tire noise

does anyone know what the comparison between a mud tire and a thornbird road noise wise would be. I have heard that the thornbirds tend to shake to. Is this true and how bad?

A regular mud tire is way less noisy than thornbirds. The new BFG mudders are designed to be quieter on the road, whereas Thornbirds are not. They are made for off-road traction only. you can still use them on the road but they are very noisy. Mostly because the lugs are very deep. Road noise dosent bother me but some people hate it. As for shaking Im not too sure on that. When I drove my buddy's truck with Thornbirds I wasn't going over 50K, so it wouldn't have shook going that slow. They sure grip off-road though. If they are wearing un-evenly I could see them shaking because they are so knobby and heavy. Other than that Im not too sure. Hope this helps.
