What pressure are you running in street tires?

I run 35psig. I have heard of some giys running 4-psig; any opinions on that?

i was running 32 in my bfg 30 x 9.50 atko's for about the past six months, then had a near miss where i felt like i was gonna roll the truck last week, soooo to 36 i went. a little firmer, and once i have to make a sudden maneuver, i'll let you know how they feel.

drmoore71, by raising the pressure it stiffens the sidewall and will make it more prone to rollover

don't you think that with too little pressure, the sidewall would tend to roll under in the event of a higher speed maneuver? that's where my logic was, so i decided to bring the pressure up. thoughts, ideas? i'm always open to suggestions.

ok your logic seems ok...

32 isn't bad....36 isn't bad either.

the problem with running too low a pressure like the firestones @ 26 is that they heat up due to the friction and fail. the reason ford reduced the pressure originally was that they tested it @ 35 and found that the truck was to easy to roll because running higher pressures and thus stiffer sidewalls made the explorers roll over....

back to your point about running too low, this wont happen unless you run about 15 or lower. the sidewalls are built stiff in the beginning and shouldn't be run that low except under the most extreme circumstances such as off-road.

I just got some 33x12.5 BFGs and was wondering what would be a good wheeling pressure.

hey philip...try the chalk test referred to in gimp's previous post. i think i'm gonna try it this weekend.

I have Michelin LTX M/S with 32 psi higway driving for 120 miles per day. I tried to lower it to 30 psi and it seems that I can feel a slight roll from side to side when driving in 70 to 75 mph. It increase when the wind is strong. It seems 32 makes it more stable in highway driving and turning.

its not easy to sue ford! ive been trying for almost two years with no success. ayway, im running a touch over 30psi on the stock wilderness at's, seems to be ok.

TO: Gimp

My Michelin tire size is 235/75/R15 (stock size). To compare it with Firestone, I'm happy with the Michelin I have now. Quite, good handling, for about 50+K miles, the wear and tear seems to be reasonable. The only thing though is that - it's not that appealing to the eyes I mean the looks. Originally I had an Scorpion - lowered and wider from the stock size with R15 rims but... I had a problem. It shakes a lot and balanced for 3 times to no avail untill it was replaced with the Michelin, with the stock size. The tire shop commented that the sipes must be causing the shakes.
