When looking at tires what is the difference between 255/70-16 an 31x10.5x15

Is it acctually the same size just standard to metric?

So if i buy a set of 31x10.5x15 is it bigger then stock or is it the same

They will end up being almost the same size the 255 70 16 shows to be 30.06 tall.

Just like a 315-75-16 is more like 34.5" tall compared to a 35 x 12.50 -16 but people still call them 35s...

255s are closer to 30s than 31s
