2 kinds of rubbing: suspension and body. Spacers will actually make you more prone to body rubbing by bringing the tire closer to the fender lip and increasing the steering arc.
Besides the fact that spacers are a unless you absolutely need them: they can stress your hubs, studs, and other parts. They also increase unsprung weight and rotating mass.
TT's aren't possible for 1st gens. 31's might fit, no two vehicles are made exactly the same so even if they fit on someone's elses 93 doesn't necessarly mean they will fit on yours. If they do rub you could trim but a better option in my opinion than that is to just get some f-150 spacers and an aal and you'l have about a 2" lift, (can't go bigger though without lift brackets for the front axle). I got my spacers at a pull-a-part place for $18 bucks and 2" skyjacker aal for i think 40 or 50 (I like a stiff ride...that doens't sound right does it!) then allignment. With this set up you might be able to fit 32's with some trimming I would think. Hope that helps!
I thought they might look too skinny as well, but they give the X a nice look.
I just put mine on saturday morning, anything bigger would rub... Definitely, the 31s are really close to rubbing. I'm going to be going to the dunes this weekend to check it out and see what kind of rub I get in light wheeling.
I put on 31's after I put the 3" body lift on. I loved the way it looked. I like the 35's so much better though. The only rubbing that I would get was after I put mud tires on the knobs would rub a little.
The only trimming that I had to do was on those plastic "beauty" pieces at the bottom behind the wheel. Used a dremmel tool and it turned out just right.
thanks alec, the FAQ is very nice...sorry it was late and i didnt even think to check it...wont happen again....
and stog94,i had 31x10.5s on it before*i put the rims from the wrangler onto it....mud tires and some nice chrome aftermarket rims...* but they didnt stick out like they did on the jeep,so i put them back on the jeep and now im looking to put some nice tires on the stock rims.... but i kind of want them to stick out too....i know in order for that ill have to buy rims too..
haha, actually this guy around town (whose user name shall not be mentioned) stuck 33" thornbird on at stock height, on stock rims on a 92 sport. looks cool but he has a TON of rub and onlly about 1-2" between the top of his tires and teh inside of the fenderwells. i have 32s on my rig with a 3" BL and i only rub when i flex, and it is just a little in front.
