I was wondering, if its safe or not to have the tire so close to the upper control arm, that only an envelope fits between the tire and control arm.
I got these free granite alloys (17X8.5 a couple months use) and put some 275/60/17 Toyo ATs

for stock 245\65-17's i have 10mm. I never checked but i'd try and increase that offset a bit. Wheel spacers might help.

The tyre and control arm should move together, so the gap should never get smaller (or larger), except when the upper ball joint gives up the ghost, I guess. So any gap is a good gap. But yes, hub centric wheel spacers/adapters will help with that gap.

I have svt rims with 275/55/17 tires on them...my pinky doesn't fit between the upper control arm and the tire...been driving on them for 2 summers now never had a problem
