Last week I priced out tires and The Tire Rack worked out to be the best even with the shipping cost. this week,Just for giggles, I went back on that website and looked up the same tire, same quantity and shipping to same address. Their shipping costs went up LITERALLY 60% in a week.
From $35 to $75 dollars. So if you used them in the past it may be cheaper to buy local now.

Darn that rising cost of gas.
And you also shipped from the same facility?

Just got some delivered today and the shipping charges were $35.

Yeah, I just looked, and it's $35 for me as well... Of course, I live about 1.5 hours from their Indiana warehouse. I am betting that the first warehouse that he got a quote from ran out, and the site automatically moved to the next, farther away facility, and the shipping costs went up appropriately.

Although I thought they had some kind of warning for that, and let you wait until they were available from the main facility again.

I would bet that's what happened.

Same shipping Delaware.

Before buying, I asked some questions on-line and they got back within 2 days.
My question about the shipping seems to have 'gotten lost', no response.

I'll go and run the same exercise again in a few days and see what the delivery is.
Maybe you all bought just under the wire. Or people complained and they went back or I don't know what. It did state the same shipping address with the higher price.

I just looked up a set of tires last night and the shipping quote was also $75. I've bought a couple sets of tires in the past through them and it was always a lot cheaper than that. It pays to shop around

I just checked and it's still $35 from Deleware to Richmond Va.

It is still $35 from Indiana to Illinois... This is very interesting.

I found that if you print out the tirerack price sheet, any major tire store will meet the price no problem, no shipping costs.

Some will. Not all of them. I don't get tires from tirerack anyway. With shipping they are cheaper, but you still have to get them installed. All that extra $$ adds up.

i just bought a tire from them and it was 25 bucks shipping from luisiana to north carolina

hey spindelcone, i live about 20 miles from you and used to work @ wheel works in fremont although there are several of the same store out in sj.... wheel works would match the price of the tires, but nailed you for $20 per tire extra for mounting and balancing....

I use wheelworks over on Alum rock, they pricematch and charge 15 per tire.
When I bought my last set of rims from TR, I took it to one of TRs preffered installers downtown.
Next morning I was sitting on four flats, they forgot to tighten the metal valve stems

Lucky for me I work for a manufactuer of tire changers and balancers and we have a shop set up in the back for the employees to use. Mounting my revos yesterday, I came
darn close to tearing a bead! Those sidewalls are very stiff for an A/T tire. Needless to say, tirerack is perfect for my situation.
