You guys are wayyyyyyy beyond what I am asking, but here goes........I have a 99 Explorer, Ford says the 2X4's should have 225X70X15's right now it's got 235X75X15's on it (that, according to Ford is the recommended size for the 4X4)They were put on by the dealer when I bought this lease turn-in because I was not going to buy it with the recalled Firestones on it. My
Question is this, I was looking at tires at the "Tire Rack" and they WILL NOT SELL me any other tire than the 2 listed above, I guess for liability reasons, but if you check a 255X70X15 is the exact (well almost) same
height, just a 1/2 inch wider than the 235X75X15's that are on it. If I put the 225X70X15's on it, it will be almost an inch shorter tire (height). and I don't want that, throws the speedo off.....and will not even begin to fill the wheel well. Who, if anybody, has put 255X70X15's on an Explorer and will it be a problem? Would it increase rollover tendencies? I'm frustrated about all this crap, I just want to get some tires that fill the wheelwell that don't cost an arm and a leg, but I want to be safe too.........Anybody have any
recommendations?
TIA
John
