I have 2010 Ford sport trac the size of the tire is 235/65/18 and someone told me I could go to 255/60/18 or 265/60/18 is this true

The 255/60/18 tires will be the exact same diameter, just a little wider. The 265/60/18 tires will be even wider than that, but also have a larger diameter than stock.

Yes, as long as the last number (in your case, 18, which is the diameter of the wheel ) is the same, the tires will fit. Be aware that some tire shops will not mount anything but the stock tire size on an Explorer.

The 235/60/18 will be smaller around than the 235/65/18, but it will fit. They are about an inch shorter. (0.9" to be exact)
