2 questions...
ok i have been doing a lot of reading about bypassing the amp. I have a 1998 sport. From what i understand if i buy this http://www.crutchfield.com/S-42hQZB...c=11&g=103000&I=120705008&o=m&a=1&cc=01&avf=Y
i plug it into the wire that goes into the amp and run it all the way up to my stock head unit? and that way i can run my speakers normally without them randomly cutting out on me.

my second question is about just rewiring the HU to speakers instead of bypassing the amp. Doesnt seem all that hard just time consuming. Any draw backs to using 14 or 16 gauge wire and running it directly from the head unit to each speaker? if i do this will it matter that the stock amp is not bypassed?

i have searched a lot but am still a little confused. if anyone can help me out by answering these questions it would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance.

98s didn't have external amplifiers except for the subwoofer on the JBL system. So none of that would apply to you.

and even if you did have that problem you dont have to use that big of a gauge wire...running them right from the cd player or w/e you have is fine...just make sure to kill the battery line to the amp cuz its a waste of power

i picked up 18 gauge wire and a bunch of male/female connectors. how do i kill the battery line to the amp?

cut the power wire to it or just take out the fuse

There's only 2 plugs on my amp. One was the output and one was the input. The power presumably comes with the input from the head unit.

But as I said earlier, 98s and later did not have external amplifiers unless they had the audiophile system, in which case the amplifier was exclusively for the subwoofer.
