Yea i hope they can do something for sure.i really want to turn the boost up and in order to do that i need water meth and really only wanna do direct port injection so.if you want the charger when i get my new one,you can have it for what the core charge is ,instead of sending it to them

if you come up with a plan for a lower mount, im all in.

Yea i think ALOT of people would be in if i can.witch makes me wanna press the issue.

Well, I have my SCT, and James sent me a couple of street tunes today. Very fast.

He gave me excellent advice on going with an M90 supercharger, and is willing to work with me on what components to go with it to create something he can tune.

James was excellent in explaining whats involved, and to make sure I understood the costs involved. He did say this is not a cheap thing to do properly, and there will be lots of incedentals I will need. His advice was: Take what you think it will cost you, and double it.

Sound advice. I just might start working with him towards spring-time on this. It would be a great learning experience for me.

How are the tunes?what did he do?any noticeable power gains?what kind of things did he suggest to do the m90?

The tunes....I didn't bring my SCT to work today. I'll up the tunes tonight and go for a drive.

On the Tips for the Supercharger:
Be very careful on the MAF used.
1. Not just any MAF can be tuned properly.
2. 24lb injectors won't do the trick for me, going to have to go larger
3. Wide Band sensor a must
4. Bigger fuel pump a must
5. Expect Vehicle down time of close to a week for tuning
6. Take what you think the whole venture is going to cost, and double it.

Very quick and to the point. Of course, in the back of my mind, I was hoping James would say that if I'm going with low boost, I could get away with 24lb injectors, and factory fuel pump. He definitely crushed those thoughts. LOL.

All that you should have known;)

Ya, I just had a glimmer of hope in the back of my mind that I could cheap out. Not a chance though. :-(

I guess It will be a slow process of installing fuel pump and wideband o2 sensor/guage before I install anything else. Then start piecing together all other required parts.

I still don't understand what you do for vacuum for brakes. When you are under boost, there's no vacuum for this stuff. Correct?

Umm Idk but think it depends on witch side of the charger you are on and you won't be using the breaks wile under boost or wot.did he suggest which maf, injectors size or type of pump to use?

No, he didn't say. Nor did he say what brands give him trouble.
I think I will be purchasing everything I can from him. If he is going to sell me the stuff, he will have experience with it and how it will behave while he is tuning to bring everything together.

He did say i would need a pump of at least 190lph.
In my case, I need a returnless style. I found one for about $70.00. Not looking forward to dropping the tank.

Yea those kind of answers don't help very much.with me being such a newby in FI i need more help than that.i think i have just about everything figured out now anyways.we will end up using alt of the same parts i would imagine.except im going to go with a 5.0 tb as they are cheaper and there is about a million different size and company's that make them.did you ever figure out witch tb that kit uses?i just sold my bbk so if it did use an explorer you missed out on that sale,im betting it uses a sohc tb since that's what that kit is for.that would be a good thing because then you can use a mustang 4.6 tb and they make a bunch of those aftermarket .let us know how those tunes work out.if you have a smart phone get and app that measure hp or 0-60 or 1/4 mile and compare some times;)that is if everything isn't covered in snow yet:)

O ps im about at $1100 worth of parts and still need the maf tuned, new charger,a chip and the whole thing tuned.ill be at about $1500 without the truck being tuned:(IT IS NOT CHEAP!!!but some stuff i just wanted and may have gotten by with something cheaper

Yup, your right. SOHC throttle body. From what you just said, its different than the one I have now.

No iphone for the hp applications.

I installed the 87 octane tune and did a quick drive. My initial feelings on this are:
1. More low and mid range power, don't know about top end
2. Transmission shifts are more solid.

I did my low end test. Very low tech. I back up the driveway and stop with my front wheels just at the bottom of the curb. Then, I ease on the gas to continue up the curb.
In the past, I had to rev the motor up around 2000rpm to get up the curb. Now, a slight push of the gas, and I'm up. I'm guessing this is more some work that has been done to the transmission programming.

Im guessing James has his own formula for the things he does, and why. He probably likes to keep them a bit of a secret. He would obviously want to provide something his competitors cant.

Anyway, so far so good. I'll have more to report, the more I drive it.

The up side is that my motor can be tuned without needing a trip to the dyno if I go forced air.

I'm sure I'll end up jumping in, I just need a to catch myself at a weak moment.

They have them for droids .why a 87 tune?i couldn't see running less than a"89" tune with your mods .with higher compression you should be running least 89 anyways.you told him all your mods?my truck won't even run of 87,well it will but sounds and runs like **** especially when hot!

I had him do an 89 tune also. Its just that I always have run the cheap gas.
2 reasons for the 87 tune. One is to have apples to apples comparison, the other is that I have a company gas card, and they will not be happy is I start using anything other than regular gas.

The gas card thing will become an issue, as I think I just purchased a SC for $105.00 landed on my doorstep. Fresh oil in it, with a snout rebuild. The guy that has it is parting out as his motor threw a rod. I hope that's not going to be my fate also.

You should run 89 at the least with your motor and if you go SC you will HAVE to run 90+ for sure to help with detonation

Yup, the gas will become an issue.
I think next fill up I'll try mid grade, and upload the 89 tune.
