I’m slowly gathering parts and tackling the issue of a solid axle swap on my aero. I’ve got a set of axles (Dana 30 and Chrysler 8.25) which have 4.11 gears and lockers, I have a M5ODR1 to swap in, and a 4.0 to rebuild. I have most of the parts needed to rebuild the motor. As much as I’d like to go with a 5.0, I don’t want to source and rebuild all the needed drivetrain components that’ll go with it.

Here is where I’m deciding if a 410/422 cam is worth it or not. It’ll be daily driven on 31s, when off-road it’ll see mostly mud and hills. Will those cams sacrifice the famous low end torque that the 4.0 is known for, or will it improve it?

my understanding is thye are both good cams, but personally id do a 410 since the 422 makes more peak, but takes a bit mroe spin to get it imo.

Good point, I’ll rarely see 4,000+ r.p.m. on or off-road. Plus 4.11 gears should get me through most things. Thanks!

 id go with the low end of the 410 imo.
