Just about any ASE certified shop will be able to beat any dealer price. If dealers weren't notorious ripoffs there would be no independent shops.

I say keep it. You can find cheap motors with a little work. Check this place out. And here's a thought, have some local EF members help YOU do the engine swap, and just don't tell the insurance company!

How much did a ten year warranty cost?

I ended up giving the work to an independent shop. The STEALERSHIP was just asking for too much.

The warranty (United Warranty Wholesaler) cost $2400 but its payable in 18 months or so. So it makes it sort of bearable. As it turns out it was a good deal 'coz I already got it all back from the warranty company for my engine swap. They are covering $3200 of the repair bill which came out to $4085 + tax. I'm getting her back this Tuesday. I am so psych. :D

:Dgood news !,
my ex is ready to collect today after timing chains change,
and I cant wait to get behind the wheel ,good luck dude!,
got value from my warranty too.... cost me only another £150 for the extended warranty (they paid £650 for front chain), I also had the rear chain replaced ...worked out at £450 plus it got a sevice.......chuffed... money well spent.worked out £300 for rear chain if you include the sevice ..maths is hard for me ....but I get her back for more fun.
