To modernize an Explorer 2003 to 2006

Hi people

i was looking for information about, but i didn't find something.

i'll buy a Ford Explorer 2003 the next month, and i want to modernize it to 2006 model, is it possible? did somebody do it? is it dificult?

in my country it is not illegal

you can change the mirrors, tail lights and wheels not sure what else..

If you are wanting to make the 2003 look like a 2006 from the outside, it "might" be possible.

As Jad said, you can change the mirrors, wheels, and tailights. The front fender, bumber, hood, etc I'm not sure about because no one was tried(that I know of). No you cannot change the headlights to look like the '06+ without changing the entire front(as mentioned, don't know if you can.)

To "modernize" I would "cutomize." Add a different grill, paint match the headlights, add a touch screen headunit, aftermarket wheels, etc. That will really make your ride look, different. A good set of wheels alone make a HUGE difference.

Why make it look like another 4th gen when there's plently available to make your 3rd gen a one of a kind? If you really are stuck on the 4th gen look, then I wouldn't buy the '03, just keep saving until you can afford an '06. Good luck

probably cheaper to buy the 06 then an 03 and then all the 06 parts.

Thanks guys, i had seen Chevy Suburban or Tahoe 2003 modified to Cadillac Escalade 2006, and i think i can modify an Explorer 2003 to 2006 like this, but i'll check out if is ti possible. I wil report the progress.

you can convert any gm to a cadillac .... but the explorers will be MUCH harder ... even the taillight wiring is different ... they look the same (kinda) but they are not ... like they said imo save for a 4th gen or customize the 3rd gen

No, but you can make them work, search for the how to, there are pix in it

I've always wondered how hard it would be to put a fourth gen front end on a third gen.... (bumper, grill, headlights)

I beleive you can. You will have to buy everything from a new bumper, bumper cover/grille, quater panels hood and such. The 02-05 is the same from the doors back (except the lift gate). I've thought about doing this to my 05 before, but I just dont have the extra money to spend. I'm pretty sure it is possible... Let me know your progress.
