to modify a 97 xlt or begin again?

thank you for any input in this matter. own a stock 97 xlt with control trac 4x4. want to know if a (k&n) cold air intake, and some hedmann headers, and also a flowmaster exhaust, will be a waste by having 100K miles on it?or should i buy newer then modify?

My opinion? If it runs pretty good now, then modify. What engine do you have? I have a 5.0 (that burns no oil between 3,000 mile changes) with 211,000 miles currently. To me, yours is just broken in I just modified my stock air cleaner box slightly and dropped in a K&N cleaner and I estimate that I gained almost 1 mpg in fuel milage ( which means something these day$). I would recommend a KN fipk kit if $$ permits. I will have a flowmaster 70 series big block II muffler installed friday.
If your driving experience just feels right. Hey, why not stick with your comfortable truck and just enjoy it? Improvements to an old friend sometimes feel best..........
