Just did the monroe struts up front.

I have replaced struts/springs on about 15 cars in my time and the explorer was the toughest.

I see the convenience of "quick strut". I had to borrow a clamp style spring compressor as that is what I always did. It worked, but from here on out, I will spend the extra$ and just get the whole strut set up and be done with it.

Also I had to loosen the upper ball joint not so the arm could go up for extra clearance. I also had to cut the top part of the strut shaft off to get it in there. The going to retighten the ball joint nut the whole thing spun, so I had to put a vice grip on the end of it to stop it from spinning.

These struts will work for a toyota tundra also. I was reading the instructions and it said for a toyota do this, for a explorer do this. haha

I just replaced the front struts on my 2003 explorer, it took me 3 hours in the driver side one, because it was the first time in my life I changed them, and like 1 hour in the passenger side (once i figured out how to do the job).

I have to do this someday (front and rear) on my 112K mile 2002 Limited. I will probably go with the combo strut/shock/spring replacements, as I am getting older, lazier, and more protective of my time and labor.

How long are you folks going before replacing these?

quick struts are the way to go... less labor and done in one step (well not really but you now what I mean)

Dad got his at www.rockauto.com and if I remember right they were about $165 each.

You can get the quick struts cheaper using coupons in advance, or almost every thing, I got the struts for $55 each one with CCABIN or BIG40.
just google Advance auto coupons.
hope it's useful

I have the Struttek's installed on the rear and will be putting them on the front very soon!! I am very happy with them. :D

found Monroe Quick Struts at www.justsuspensions.com for $449. + free shipping. That's $112.25 ea for fronts and rears for my '02 XLT 2WD. About $30 ea more than the Chinese Strutex. I'm planning on using the Monroe's.
