The wheels have been off for awhile. That's why the rust there. I'm in the process of pulling the engine and was concerned with the amount of rust. I bought the Sport in MA. It was originally sold in Vermont. It was there fro 2 years and then it went to Maine for 3 years and then to Boston since 2005. I just need to know if this is normal rust for up there? I was also thinking it was a flood vehicle?

Yikes. That's from Vermont, or was parked within 1 block of the ocean for the last nine years.

My 2000 is nearly rust free. It has not received any special care and has been in the rainy Northwest from day one.

That rust is from repeated exposure to salt, and no effort to wash it away. Looks very much like a car I once bought that had been in Vermont for several years. Removing any fastener was a huge challenge, as the rust made them non-standard sizes.

are you buying it? How much? whats the body/frame/underside like?

My X is originally from Delaware, and it's got some pretty bad rust underneath. They got a house in FL and stored the X down here, but insurance wasn't worth it, so they sold it. But it was up there for a good 10+ years.

But yeah, it's pretty rank under there too.

It looks like it hasn't been driven or something because the rotor is rusted to hell.

Its not horrible. Up here in Wisconsin this is all to typical. I second that it looks like it hasnt been driven in a while since the brake rotor is rusted. But those things can rust pretty quick from my own personal expierence.

Bought the Vehicle with low 97K miles on it off Ebay. I then had it shipped to NJ. Big Mistake. I believed the sell seller, but got taken. Only paid $2500. There were no side bars. I found out later why. All the support metal was rusted away. I'm pulling the engine because the engine broke a chain guide and jumped timing. the rust in the rear quarter panel is starting to rust through the paint.

:( well, if you can fix the timing, and the motor isn't damaged you have a good engine/driveline (most likely).

if you cannot fix it, then at least its good for a lot of good low KM parts.

That seems pretty typical, some rust out fast others don't my old 96 had all kinds of rust, but my 2000 is pretty much rust free.

Doesn't look that bad. It just looks like some surface rust. A wire brush would clean that up I'd bet.
