Too Much Vibration

Well this weekend I installed all my 'stuff'. Audiobahn 1300HCX under the back seat, Audiobahn AWP310X in a JL stealth box (which did not fit without some SERIOUS modification). I used Great Stuff to adhere the box to the truck, since I couldn't find any way to mount brackets to it. I used quite a bit, and it is quite secure, when I wiggle it, it moves the entire truck. I have all the panels and stuff back in, but there is tremendous vibration everywhere back there. The panels vibrate, the lift gate vibrates, even the body on the outside of the truck vibrates. I can't hardly hear the bass over the vibrations. Does anybody have any suggestions? If I used lots of GreatStuff and dynamat would that help? Thanks in advance.

dynamat should really help deaden the panels. you could find it cheap on ebay.

are you sure that enclosure is large enough for that sub? how much airspace?
i know that subwoofer can be used in a somwhat small enclosure, but it sounds best with at least 2 cuft.

I had the same type of vibrations when I installed my Thunderform back there. Rather than covering the whole back end with Dynamat, I covered the areas around the sub (any metal touching it or around it) and covered the whole lift gate. This took care of the vibrations for me.

I used Dynamat Xtreme which is thinner and supposedly dampens the vibrations better than the original.

It said in the book that came with the sub that it can be placed in a .6 cubic foot sealed enclosure. I'm pretty sure the JL box is close to that. Idealy, a large ported box would sound best, but I was going for a stealth looking setup. I have heard a lot of people talk about how badly the grills fit on their stealth enclosures, and the one that came with the JL is mearly a piece of thin metal with a bunch of holes drilled in it cut to the shape of the factory hole. I just threw it out. What I did was use a length of brakeline I had, and bent it to fit the perimeter of the hole. Then I covered it with fabric that matched the panel. I used velcro to hold it in place, and it stays even when the sub is at full excursion. It looks prettty decent.

that sounds like a cool idea for the grill. i dont think the grill that came with it would work with that sub anyway (too much excursion)
