My X only has 41,000 miles on it and it is pinging under heavy acceleration. I have searched and found that most cases like mine happens after 100,000 miles. Is this normal? I am going thru the steps to remedy this, reseting the computer, seafoming and cleaning the maf. Any reason this would be happining so soon?

Thanks,

gas grade? coil pack dirty? vacume leak?

87, no and no.

I have a 92 w/ 175k on it. mine used to ping all the time. I found that by using 89 octane gas, and running injector cleaner through it (i use lucas) most cases of pinging stopped. It will still ping when I am climbing a hill at high elevations, or when im loaded down and going into a headwind (then I have to slow down a little). Just my experience.

Before the gas upgrade and the injector cleaner, it would ping anytime i went up a slight hill.

I think I'm going to seafoam it, thru the TB and in the gas tank. Then try some 89 octane and see if that does the trick.

i think putting 89 in your 302 might not doing anything to help. it defintaly helped my 4.0, but i still get it sometimes

running sea foam might be your best bet. Dirty injectors is probably the culprit, but what caused them to get dirty is your real problem...
