I took my 6" lift off of my 94 and lowered it back down to stock. the problem is, I am having problems with the front suspension.

I bought a 91 4-door (stock) for the stock brackets and rear springs. I was just going to swap front and rear axles, but the 91 doesn't have anti lock brakes in the front and mine does, so I just kept my Dana 35 and just took off all the drop brackets and put it back up to stock. The problem is, when I got everything done and the tires on, both tires were toed out.

From the top, the tires look like this \----/

from the front, the tires look like this /----\

basically, the front of the tires are toed out, and the top of the tires are toed in.

I just had a tire put on and asked the tire shop check to see if the camber was changed when the lift was put on. All he could tell me was that I needed new ball joints and it would cost me 500$.

I loosened up the tie rods and started to pull them in and somewhat got rid of the front tires being toed out. I can't tell if I am making any difference because the top of the tires are leaning in so much it lookes like crap.

I have the stock steering off of the donor truck. Should I put it on and then have the camber checked?

thanks for the help.

That mechanic was a moron. You probably need a set of stock camber bushings. I don't know much about how the alignment is done, but I do know that most high-lift Xs need different camber bushings with the lift.

If you changed your steering (pitman arm or superrunner system) this will also affect toe, even more if camber is off. You will need to go back to stock steering also.

Thats what I thought. I am going to take it to someone else to have it looked at.

I had stock steering on with the lift, and I think the tie rods were adjusted to make the steering work with the lift, and once the lift was off, the toe was out.
