well they cant align it, they said i need a camber kit (FL and FR) in order for them to properly align the car.

i took it in because the front left and i guess right tires were wearing on the inside... the front left was really noticable... he showed me the print out and it was -1?

well its $258 for the kit (including the $198 labor) then another $75 for the alignment. (not to mention that they recomended the 100k mile service... and im at 104k miles)

is there any way to adjust it without the kit?

buy the kit at napa (40-50$) and put it in yourself. Then take it in for an alignment (49.99-59.99) your set then

I'm pretty sure that you have to have the kit

how hard is it to install the kit?

What a rip off. I assume this was a non-specialty business? Meaning they do alignments, engine work, etc. You should get it aligned at a place like Les Schwab, a place that deals entirely with suspension components. You may need new cams but that price is ridiculous.

I already had the cams but did not want to takle the installation so I took my 99 to an akignment facility in Sarasota. They charges me $95 for the installation and the alignment.

They are bending you over; try another place,

Good luck....

CA is a lot more expensive than most states.... my location my be the reason why its so expensive

Where did you go though? Go to a tire shop and get a quote. When I did my lift I had the new cams required but thought they would be hard to install, so I took it in with the cams. They made me buy cams because they wouldn't be able to warranty using these. I know ours use different cams and all but it's the same idea.

Have you priced other facilities?

no just that one so far... they said ford mostlikely wont do it...

yes i went to a tire shop... the owed me a free rotation for the life of the tires.

i dont trust Midas because they messed up my other car (broke a tool in the brakes, didnt bleed the brakes after i got them replaced)

im trying to think of some place that could do it, but non are coming to mind...

Why would Ford not do the work?

Is your truck lowered/lifted? Why do you need the cams if the suspension is not alteres ( lowered/lifted )?

Any major tire facility should be able to do it.

because its aftermarket.

truck is stock

just called another place... the service guy is out for lunch so i got to wait for the call back.

anything not OEM

well it appears that itll take 2 hours for the install... so far 2 estamates... $180 labor plus the price for the kit

You are being fed a line, my friend.

The installation and computer alignment took less than 1 hour on my 99.

What do you have aftermarlet ( and I do know what aftermarket means ) that is making you feel that Ford won't do the job?

i got an aftermarket intake, dual batteries....

i found a place that will do it for $165 including alignment, i think ill hit that place up

Most stock suspension Explorers can be aligned without the addition of the cams.

Take your truck to another facility to see what they say. I would not shop for this on the phone.

but if i take it in to multiple shops... to see if it can be adjusted, ill get chaged $45 for the inspection alone, thus making me spend more money than the whole thing all together... well im going to drive down to this place that estimated me at $165 and see if your right... if not then ill get the kit.

So you don't have aftermarket tires or rims? You shouldn't need the cams.
