Hi Shaun

The main concern with TT is damage to the front CV joints. This only applies if you have 4 wheel drive. 2" is the max that is recommended with 4 wheel drive. If yours is only 2 wheel then you can do more. I've read on here that you can fit 31's with no lift required so you should be ok. Do a search for torsion twist and read to your hearts content.

Cheers Howard

Welcome Shaun!

I just had 31X10X15's installed on my truck with stock suspension, no signs of rubbing at all. My only suspension mod is Bilstein heavy duty shocks.

I have a 4.5-5 inch TT using extended bolts. It is a 2WD. But holy ****.... I have some kind of squeaking noise in my front right suspension assembly. I took the shock out to see if it would go away but it hasn;t. Any suggestions on what it might be? Bushings?

TT how high more info pls

thanks for the responses but is that 2 inches over std ??if so whats the std ht of a 4wd explorer and wheres it measured from cheers shaun

if you cranke the bars al the way up, and then backe each off 2 turns, you get about 2" of lift over stock. at least that was the case for both of my friend's trucks:D

There is really no excuse for asking this question. It has been asked over and over and answered over and over. It is archived in the board and can be accessed by using the search feature at the top of the page.

2" MAX if that isnt a good enough answer use the search function previously mentioned

Search feature

I DID use the search but it didnt tell me if this was over stock height or not there is also No std height measureents i can find!!!

From all I've read, it's about 2in under 1/2 half the original stock factory height

If you ask about standard height than you might get different answers from different people. I have no idea what the height is that factory goes by but who really cares? When I bought my truck I didn't measure the height. It was sitting on factory 16" rims with 265 tires... than I switched to 15X8" alloy rims and 31X10.5 tires and noticed that they rub on the plastic end of the inner fender.... chopped it off and no more rubbing. I did cranck TB all the way and added an AAL in the rear. That's all I could do for now. It's a bit funny looking cause the rear sits a tad higher than front..... I can live with that. (for now). Believe me... first gen is a lot easier to lift.... lots of possibilities. Second gen.... only TT and AAL or body lift (don't think it makes sense though) or go with a 4" suspension lift which is pretty pricey.

So don't worry about how high is safe... stock height might not be safe if you start driving erratically... but if you add add-a-leaf, twist front torsion bars, change shocks to stiffer ones and install wider rims and wider tires than you're probably much safer than stock.

all the best,
