Do explorers have a tow-package port, specifically a 2000 explorer. I can't find anything about it in my owners manual. If I do have one, is there any precautions I should take in using it? I don't want to short out something by "overpowering" it.
Thanks for the help,

port?

You mean the attachment to plug in the cord for your trailers brake lights?

Not sure what you mean by overpowering it, but if it's towing you should be fine, I've towed our 27ft Fountain before on the 94' with the ohv V6.

I can't think of any way you'd short out wires unless you cut one or plugged in the wrong plug?

Yes, Kind of like an outlet that you plug the trailer wiring to. I have looked at some websites and they offer wiring the "just plugs in" to a connection so that you don't have to splice or hook a T-connector to your tailights. What i meant by overpowering is I don't want to suck to much juice and burn out my wiring. I think if it stops snowing tomorrow, I will crawl under my x and find out if it has the connection. Here is a link to show you what I mean.

The website says: NOTE: If your vehicle is equipped with a tow-package port (90% are) use 18241

There will be a round plug to hook that pigtail to if you have it. The plug on the truck should be on the driver's side, maybe 6-8" from the bottom of the fender or bumper (at least that's how my '00 Mounty was).
