Towing 4x4 behind motorhome

I have a 2002 ranger standard 4x4 with 4x4 selector on the dash, I have been told to not tow 4 on the ground because the front gearing is not disengaged even in 2 wheel position. Is there a solution

I'm not an expert but I did a bit of research about towing an Xterra my wife owns. Without a manual transfer case, it is recommended to remove driveshafts I believe.

*edit- rear driveshaft only that is. 2wd on dash selector would be same on front drive components as it is going down the road.
