Hello again,

As always good help here.

Does anyone have instructions/pics for adjusting the TPS on my year of Merc? 00' 5.0l AWD. I saw the write-ups off that Mustang web page and some pics of of V6's, etc. But nothing pertaing to my year. Seems the pics and notes were just not quite enuf for me to try it. Had a friend over to help me but he wanted to be sure we were doing it right.

Also, I've changed tranny fluid regularly. But there has always been the "grabbing" going from 1st gear to 2nd. You have to accel really slow to not feel it. Even when accelerating rather moderately, it grabs really hard. So much so that it can get tricky in the winter. And if you really get on it, it really grabs. Any idea's??

Thanks again. I'm in my quest to try and fully tune up and give some tlc to the wifes car before winter. Got to do fuel filter, the brakes pretty darn soon, fix door rattles, probably plug wires, etc.

if the tranny doesn't "grab" it is slipping, it is better that it "grabs"

unless it is really harsh, then you could be running in limp mode, however there are usually codes/flashing lights that go along with limp mode.

You have a v8, just lighten up on the throttle in slippy conditions. :D

I guess Manaen, it really does grab harsh. Even when accelerating slowly. My wifes a pretty easy driver and she doesn't like it either. You have actually accelerate pretty slow not to realize it. But if you do have to pick up speed quickly, it isn't a comfortable feeling. It's way too harsh.

I had the same problem on my '00 Crown Vic. Turns out it was a broken spring in the 1-2 accumulator. I believe it would have been an easy fix, but I had the dealer do mine during a flush. I think there's a kit that has a newer design accumulator spring and piston that's pretty easy to install. The dealer should have it and be able to show you where it is.
