1997 Explorer Sport OHV Engine TPS Adjustment.

I need to change out the TPS sensor on this vehicle that I just got and need some help please. Is this a straight forward job and what is the setting(s) that I need to adjust the part to? The part looks pretty straight forward but the guy at the parts store said that I need to adjust it before installing it, although he could not tell how or what it needs to be adjusted to. Thanks for the help.

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread to the stock 95-01 section. The TPS has 2 screws holding it on, and they could be difficult to loosen.

The screws are indeed difficult to remove,
since the factory used a thread locker on
them.

The stock setup for the TPS is non-adjustable,
although if you do a search, you'll find a claim for
performance gains when elongating the screw holes
and adjusting the sensor using a multimeter.

I once had to replace the TPS on my 88, and had to break the TPS to grab those screws. I replaced them with hex head bolts.
