I just called a Ford dealer to price a TPS, he said he couldnt give me a real #, because there not sure wich TPS I would need? The calabration(SP) would have to be checked!

What was he talking about?

Where can I find the Calabration?

The prices for all OBD I and all OBD II TPSs should be the same within each group, regardless of code. As for the code, most Xs within the same year have the same TPS code.

Thanks Alec, so where do I find the Code?

He gave me a estimate of, 40-50$ for a throttle position sensor. With some even higher the $50. He tells me there are many dif kinds of TPS for my 95.

So which one do I need?

OBD Is are usually 30-40, and OBD IIs are usually 50-60.

I may be wrong, but there should only be one code for a 95 OBD I, you might just need to tell him that it's OBD I. If he is indeed at Ford and you do indeed need a code, he should be able to pull it from a VIN database.

Oh, one difference may be in the wiring harness connector. Some are round and some are square, maybe that helps?

Ok, I called him back. He said, the number should be on the TPS itself. So I'll check and see which number I can pull off of it!

Thanks Alec

Acually, the Calibration code is on the drivers side door jam. I had to replace mine and that is where we got the number.

Cool, I'll try there also. THANKS

are the OBD-1's adjustable? i know you can adjust the TPS on 88-95 mustangs, and if it is adjustable that is all it needs. i do know the OBDII's are non-adjustable.

My Chilton book says no! If I can adjust it, I would love to know how.

Don, you can also test it with a multimeter to see if it's really bad. Refer to James' URL page and read the signal wire voltage. The voltage should increase smoothly when the throttle is opened. If the V reading is the least bit erratic, replace the TPS. These things are basically a variable resistor, and they do wear out.
