Trails in Illinois?

yeah....im planning on getting there on time!! i found these directions from a supercross page.

"The fairgrounds is located on the east edge of town, on 1st avenue.
If you are coming in on route 34 from interstate 39, follow the state (brown signs)
for the fairgrounds, at the corner of 1st avenue and us route 34 turn left or south,
then take first avenue 7 blocks south to the north entrance of the fairgrounds.

INTERSTATE 80 IS 12 MILES...... SOUTH OF MENDOTA
INTERSTATE 39 IS 2 MILES..... EAST OF MENDOTA
INTERSTATE 88 IS 28 MILES........ NORTH OF MENDOTA"

as soon as i get home...(im at work now)....i will post some maps to better help illustrate the area.

Good maps Riff, I talked to a guy today that lives in Mendota. The maps are right on. The easiest way will be to meet at the truckstop like was initially proposed. I believe there are two of them at the exit so someone has to pick??? And no, I cant remember the names. Might drive down on sunday to find out if no other info has been posted. Later.

Meeting spot

I would prefer meeting at the truck stop. It's large and easy to find. If we park near the entrance, we will be easy to see for others that might be meeting up with us. As for me, I have never been in that part of the state so it's new ground for me. I will be leaving early because I live about an hour east of the fairgrounds. I think we should get there as early as possible so we can get good parking spots. As far as events like this go, parking will fill up fast. This is a state wide event so a lot of people will be coming.

Let me know what you guys think. We should come to an agreement for a meeting by Wednesday or Thursday in case any straglers to the thread want to meet us as well.

Also, we should decide how long we will wait for others before we move on. I did this a lot in California, 10 of us would meet up on our bikes and then ride the trails all day. We set up designated meeting spots and how long we would wait....etc.

Just thinking ahead.

ok....im just kinda thinking out loud.....

...but if the truck drags is at 1...and we can register at 10.....if we showed up right at 10, then that would give us 3 hours to gawk at the other trucks before the competition begins.....so...maybe if we meet at the truck stop at like 9:30 then waited until like...uh.....9:50 for any scragglers...(like dave and andre..hahahaha)...then head on over to the fairgrounds....that sound good to you? i don't know the name of the truckstops, but we could all leave our cbs on like channel 25 or somthing like that, then holler out when you get near.....or somthing like that....

waddaya think?

Hows this sound?

What we can do is meet in the front parking lot of the Amoco truck stop around 9:30 and leave from there at 9:50 and go stumble around looking at the trucks, just like Riff suggested. It's real close to the fairgrounds, I drove down to check it out tonight. For those coming in off of I-39 it's exit 72. I'll be there waiting unless plans change. I'll post a copy of this on the Hanks thread in case someone looks there but does'nt look here.

Thought I would bring this back to the top again. All of you new guys if you are from the midwest area and know of any good trails post them here. Also be sure to scheck out the Attack on Attica II thread...

Dave

blickity blam! bump to top.....for the newbies that didn't know that there were that many of us in Illinois....

I second that

word spreads really fast. Just before the first "attack on Attica" we had only a hangfull of "Explorers" and now look at the list. Well, let's hope more show up as we go.
Another mini run is in the works so get in touch and post your opinions here. Know of any good places to go wheeling? let us know since we're always looking for a way to get "outdoors".

(if you know what I mean)

Later,

Good thing I started this thread huh? It has been at or near the top of this group for about a year now... Sorry, I needed a cheap self-esteem boost. Seriously though, if anyone knows any good offroading spots in Illinois, Wisconsin, or Indiana post it so we can try to get a group to go there.

Dave

I think there are some trails in Indiana, but don't quote me on it.

lol....smartass

lol, I have talked to some guy Friday about trails in Wisconsin. Someplace north of Green Bay around some pipeline???? Dunno, will probably talk to him some more tomorrow.

Will post,

from what i have heard...the pipeline is supposed to be really cool. i would like to try it if at all possible.....andre, do you know where it is, and what it is all about?

Some guys at Attica were talking about that too. They where from Milwaukee and said it's right near them. I believe Kampy has thier info, he had an Explorer and wanted to join. They where there with ATV's when we were there.
