Trails in Illinois?

weblink Pete? I dunno. I got a bit more info from this guy today. Looks like around Crivitz, north of Green Bay. Look it up on the map going north on Rt.141 from Green Bay. I'll try to get more info and hopefully a map of how to find it.

yeah...i did a little research too, and from what it looks like, it really is a lot of mud there. YIPEE!!! thats my element!

but i posted on a mid west forum asking for more information, so hopefully i'll get some from there....if you beat me andre...put it up!! cool?

Andre, I think the link was under a post or thread relating to Wisconsin state legal truck limitations....
That is all I remember off hand.
Thanks,
Pete
I'll try and search later for it.

i just got a reply back from a guy on the wisconsin board....here it is...

Hey Scott!
The pipeline is located about 10 miles east of Mountain WI just past Crooked Lake. It runs N-S at that point, from hwy 64 at the south to Boat Landing Road at the north. If you would like to get involved with our rehab project, we are having a work date on November 11th - meet on the Pipeline at the top of the rock hill, just south of FS 2101/Bucks Ranch Road on the Pipeline. Bring a shovel, rake, and gloves and lend a hand!!

Otherwise, there are numerous clubs in Wisconsin who frequent the area. I do suggest you go there with an experienced group....most of it is no problem, but there are some extremely deep holes that most folks wish to avoid.

Check out the Wisconsin web site at our NRTA link for some historical information on this area. http://www.wi4wda.org

Hope to see ya up there!

pipeline

Riff, I posted on another board and a guy that lives up there sent this reply,

If you're free this weekend, we have our fall run fri-sun this
weekend. Even doing a "rally" (insert evil laugh).
Staying at McCaslin Mountain campground on hwy F east of Lakewood, WI.
Bring long undies, it was cold up there this past weekend. There was
frost on the tent before we even got to bed!

The Pipeline is an area on the eastern edge of the Nicolet National
Forest, an actual right-of-way for the natural gas pipeline. The pipe
is about 4 feet (is most spots) under the surface. ANR Pipeline Co.
allows the use of the property, and in turn 4wheelers help keep the
right-of-way clear by traffic. The trail head is about 8 miles east of
Lakewood, WI, and continues south past hwy 64. Not all of the area is
open, and if anybody goes there.. DO NOT CROSS THE ROCK BARRIERS!
This could result in trail closure of possible death (yup, I said
death) since the closed areas have insufficient coverage over the
pipe. A 36" pipe exploding isn't a good thing. The area is patrolled
by the Forest Service who have full law enforcement rights (since it
fringes the forest property.) There are many off-shoot trails also,
but you have to be careful since many of the closed trails aren't
marked as such. The Pipeline trail itself is really kind of boring.
Just a series of mud holes connected by a very easy (station wagon)
trail. It is the other trails in the area that make it a great place.

Cruise up there if you can, I guarantee you'll have a blast.

pipeline

another guy offered to be a guide for us up there if we wanted to play.....lotsa mud, he says....so we can get there and have somebody who knows whats going on with us...so now we just have to figure out when we wanna go. cause its quite the long drive for me, and some others too......

p.s. attica mini run the 4th of november...anybody in?

Hey riff, you want to goto Moab next year? Pete wants to go too. Talked to my GF about it and she wants to go as well.

Let me know, **** like this need major planning.

hell yeah man!! i had already decided that i was gonna go from the Moab Edition Thread. But im NOT driving my rig that whole way....by then i hope to have an additional truck, and a trialer. cause theres not way in hell im driving that explorer for like 24 hours straight!!

Why would you drive it for 24 hours straight? Did you ever hear about rest areas? motels? camps? You can simply drive 8-10 hours, get some rest and then get back on the road. Oh wait!! That's Riff we're talking about; ****, once he's onto something you can't stop him!!!!!!!

Well, Moab sounds good.
Nov. 04 at Attica doesn't sound good. We were kind of thinking about going like on the 18th of November.

Can you make it then?

Later,
More pix coming tomorrow from our Attica run!!!!!!!

See ya!

oh yeah...i'll be there then too!!!!

Moab:
i don't want to drive if for a few reasons....the knobby tires suck on highways...just ask pete....and i don't want to change em......and i would get better gas mileage in a truck pulling a trailer than my damn explorer getting about 6 or 7 mpg!! also, being lifted now doesn't really like highway speeds....so yeah..i am a wuss....but who cares!!

If moab dates are right...meaning if they hold off till the end of may, then I'll go locked and regeared.....I plan on trailering it somehow...Rent a u-haul or something...I don't need anymore miles and I'd prefer not to break down and that be my only source of transportation
Pete

Pete your are going to need one pretty tall U-Haul to fit that bad boy in.

Naw...I'm gonna try and get one of those like, F-550's with the car carrier on the back...or something like that...But I gotta see what is available...I have yet to look into it
Pete

i tell ya what pete...i got a friend that i have been talking to....hes got a 2 car hauler that he might let me borrow...obviously we have a little time, but if you want, we might be able to load both up...ya know?

Riff...If I can squeeze mine in/on...I dunno if it's an open or closed carrier...But hey...if I'm goin and the spots open, I'm game...How is the carrier pulled then?
Pete

[Edited by riffman on 10-26-2000 at 10:43 PM]

Is it a trailer or truck?
I'm gonna have to get my truck regeared and locked by then...And that depends on cash...I doubt my parents will front me the money
Pete

on...its an open carrier......trailer....gotta pull it there....

so does anybody wanna try the pipeline before snow? like maybe after attica again?
