Thanks all for your help, the reason i want to lift a little now is because i have 32in tires collecting dust that would like to find a home, and i have a feeling Trailmaster isnt in the biggest hurry to come out with the lift

You guys, chill out just a bit.

You are talking about trailmaster as if they were not delivering their promise.

If you read the board, at Truckhaven it was promissed to us that the lift will be released in April.

I even wrote an email to the president a couple of weeks a go, just to confirm the release date, and he was still confident about April. So, let's give them a chance to be late and then we can be low spirited. It's not even April yet.

I'm desperate too you know?

Go twist it!

Gerald,

If you retain your current setup and add the Trailmaster, wouldn't you be pushing 7" of lift, not 5.5"+? You gained ~2" from twisting and another 1" from the HockeyPuck Lift Co. body lift, right? Trailmaster claims 4" with it's new kit, right? Seems like you'd be ready for 35s then! Dead Link Removed

Juan,

I'm not saying they are not delivering their promise. In fact, Trailmaster has a reputation for thoroughly checking out their products before releasing them, as opposed to other companies that let their customers "beta-test" new products to iron out problems. I would hope that is what is going on here.

But, we first heard of the impending release of this lift last summer, then it would be available by yearend, then January, then after Truckhaven what I heard quoted was late March, now you say it's April, etc etc etc. Do you detect any pattern here?

I'm sure they'll sell it someday. But I've already been modifying mine in the meantime as best as I can. Moab is May 5th. That is a week's vacation and a heckuva long trip and expense for me to take to have to settle for "2" trails because my rig can't handle anything else. Seeing as "April" is not only the umpteenth release date rumor I've heard but also too close to May 5th to dependably get one installed even if it does come out, my attitude has simply been one of prudence and preparation. Saying "if" it comes out is a mental attitude thing for me because I have already had my hopes dashed this past year too many times, so if/when that day does come I can be pleasantly surprized. When April ends and May 1st rolls around without a Trailmaster lift, I won't be one of those feeling frustrated and crying over it because I didn't really expect it by then anyway. If it does happen, then hallelulah.

Hope that made sense.

Gerald

PS/ Rob, yeah, I'd have between 6.5" and 7" including the 1" body lift. I was just keeping it simple and referring to the suspension lift part.

I wouldn't worry about whether or not they'll go together. Just go for the twist w/leafs now, then "ready" your Explorer for the Trailmaster kit by returning the torsion bars to their original setting before installation. The add-a-leafs you use with the twist will just get swapped with the Trailmaster hardware during installation.
In the end, you can sell the add-a-leafs from your twist to someone else looking to do the torsion twist.

That's my plan. Dead Link Removed

Well the "torsion bar twist" is very simple to do and can be undone just as easy so you could just undo that when you get the new trailmaster lift. With the rear end an add a leaf would not be to difficult to remove and if you can't do it yourself a shop could probably do it for cheap. Then you could sell your add a leaf on this board for probably atleast half of what you bought it for if it will not work with the new trailmaster. Another option would be to buy new shackles instead of an add a leaf. Then you would just change your new shackles back to the stock ones when you do get the lift. I hope this helps.

I'm a little confused. If you are really going to get the Trailmaster lift (if it ever comes out) why retrofit anything then?

I don't plan on changing anything back. I guess I'll have a 5.5+" lift then, right?

I started hearing about the Trailmaster lift last week and have been trying since then to find any info as to the expected price. Has it even been released yet? I'm expecting it to be somewhere in the $1200-1500 range, plus I know I'll need to have the to torsion bar mounts replaced with the newer ones. I'd really like to be the "first kid on my block" to have the new kit installed.

I found the Trailmaster 800 number, and I called it and spoke to a Tech there, he told me they wernt making any progress and he didnt know if they were still looking into it. Whats up with that? Maybe a few other people could call and see ifthey get the same answer it, 1-800-832-4847

Guys...I have the torsion twist and 3" adda leafs and I am very happy with it for now...I believe if I wait for the Trailmaster kit I will be waiting forever..other companies have looked into it at length on how they can go about doing the same thing...I mean damn....these are engineers for gods sakes...the twist and the leafs took nothing to do and it really didnt take too much time....I figure at least I have the clearance I need for my tires and wheeling and for now Im fine...if they happen to come out with the kit....well you can bet I'll be the first on my block to do it...the only advice I have for the torsion twisters is this....think allignment .allignment ..allignment.. its best to work closely (if your doing it yourself) with a suspension shop who will do your allignment. Its not a matter of IF you will need an allignment it is a matter of HOW difficult your allignment will be.. if you have some nice expensive mudders you wanna keep the tread even...

Hey ExplorerEB96

YoThor,

I think ExplorerEB96 means she has add-a-leafs with 3" of lift, not 3" wide leafs.

Since you have a Sport, I assume you were wondering where she got 3" leafs in hopes she'd found a 3" wide application that nobody else has been able to find yet

I was under the impression that doing the torsion twist does limit the amout of wheel travel up. Now when the trailmaster lift does come out when you install it would you not want the most amout of wheel travel possible? Just a thought...Not even sure if the wheel travel thing is right.
